Trying my hand at writing stories, this is just an experiment :
She stood there waiting for him in the blistering sun. He called and said he was stuck in traffic and would take some more time to reach. She was getting very annoyed standing there all by herself. She hated waiting for him. He always did that. She kept telling him the importance of time, but he never understood. Even after being involved with big businessmen and entrepreneurs for most of his professional life, he still hadn't realized how much difference being a minute late or being a minute too early could make. He was cautioned my several people as many times, but he just wouldn't learn. He liked to live a carefree life. He worked on his own terms. What kept him in business was the way he handled people and the connections he had developed over the years. The stubborn fool, she thought, and was even more annoyed.
She had partied hard on the occasion of a friend's birthday the previous night and was so wasted by the end of it that she had to throw up forcefully(twice!) to restore some sense into her. Somehow she made her way to her apartment and after waking up half the building, finally managed to get that lock open and slip into her cosy bed. At least that's what she thought it was. She woke up in the morning, when she fell off the sofa, not due to the three alarms she had set or the constant ringing of the doorbell and the phone.
She tried to make out what time it was, but the major headache was blurring her visual senses. She bumped into the dining table and let out a scream of pain and disgust. That partly cleared her vision. She groped around the medicine cabinet for pills to cure her hangover. Then she took a long dip in the bath tub to ease her mind. Then she made brunch for herself. Somehow, cooking always helped her calm down and regain her composure. Since she had asked for a late shift for the day after the party in advance, she had ample time to get ready.
She called him and asked if he would come and pick her up. He said he was very busy and would send someone else to pick her up. She refused the offer and said she would manage herself and slammed the phone on its receiver. She didn't like it when he sent 'someone else' to pick her up. They were all a bunch of weirdos who didn't know anything about anything. He called back immediately and said that he would come himself and told her to wait for his call. She smiled and got ready. And waited anxiously for his call.
He called an hour ago saying he'll be there in 15 minutes. And so she had to wait there cursing everything in her field of vision. He finally showed up and immediately apologised. She was so angry that she got into the car without even uttering a word. He didn't dare mess with her when she was in a bad mood. So he quietly got into the car too. Just as he turned on the ignition, there was a soft tap on the left rear window. She slid it down only to find that anoying uncle from next door smiling back at her. He asked if he could have her driver's phone number as he might need to be driven to the airport the following day.
She said,"Ask him yourself uncle. I'm not talking to him. He's always so late."
