Recapturing The Dream - Part 2

So I managed to save up a considerable amount of money last month, without the use of any special tools, and now comes the hard part. Which camera is the One for me?

I have gone through the InfyWiki SLR Club, browsed through several sites, shortlisted a few models, checked out the prices et al. The only problem is that what I thought would be good enough for me to start with isn't actually so. Since I want to take it up as a serious hobby, I have to go in for an advanced point and shoot, which unfortunately overshoots my budget by almost 150%. I could take the loan from Infy (12k@0.00%p.a.) and along with another month's worth of savings actually go in for the one I should. But the problem is that I'm not sure I want to spend THAT much on my first camera (worst nightmare - what if I'm no good!) and it's really hard to save that kinda money and even harder to just spend it all in one go. I haven't become a miser or anything (even though I'm a baniya, in fact I'm a really bad baniya), it's just that who doesn't like to have a hefty bank balance!

I'm really confused, to say the least. The budding artiste in me wants to wait it out and go for it. The little trigger-happy kid inside me can't wait and just wants something to hold, aim with and shoot!

Add to that, I'm really depressed. Super-tragic-sunday. First Federer, then Chelsea. Couldn't get worse.
@Nadal, Liverpool (or any other club) supporters: Keep your comments to yourself please. PLEASE.

For the record: I had decided on buying a Canon Powershot 590 IS. It had great features, now they're just decent. My friend Jerome suggested a Canon S5 IS (he has one of these, lucky bugger) or something on those lines. I hate to wait. This time it's my decision that's causing the hold-up. I hate decisions!
